BOISE, Idaho – David R. McKinney has joined Zarian, Midgley and Johnson, PLLC (Zarian Midgley), Idaho’s largest law firm specializing in intellectual property matters (especially patent law), intellectual property litigation, and complex business litigation. McKinney will work in both Boise and Salt Lake City, Utah.
McKinney is a registered patent attorney and licensed professional civil engineer. His practice focuses on domestic and foreign patent prosecution and licensing. He has handled matters involving a wide range of technologies, including mechanical and medical devices, video display and projection systems, and nuclear waste disposal methods. He has also prepared opinions concerning patentability, infringement and validity for clients in a wide range of business areas.

Prior to joining Zarian Midgley, McKinney was in private practice in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has served as outside counsel for the Hewlett-Packard Company and the Idaho National Laboratory and, in the early 1990s, worked as a civil engineer for Keller Associates in Boise.
McKinney is licensed to practice law in the state of Utah and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Brigham Young University.
